Directors’ Message 2021

Welcome to the 2021 golf season. We are excited to announce that this is our 60th Anniversary. To help us celebrate, we would ask anyone who may have photos of the early days of the golf course to please share with us and we will post them on our website.

The golf course officially opens on April 15. We would like to thank all the of patrons who used the honor box. Every little bit helps toward the installation of a new watering system. With the costs of everything on the rise, we have had to raise our rates this year. Our new rates for the 2021 year are attached. You may pay by cheque, e-transfer to golfriondel@bluebell.ca , cash, debit or credit card. For now, the clubhouse will be open Thursday—Sunday 10:00-4:00. We will resume regular office days and hours in May.

We would encourage you to visit our web page and also the Nelson Kootenay Tourism page at www.nelsonkootenaylake.com . Enter to win accommodation and rounds of golf at courses in the area. Boccalino has kindly partnered with our golf course to provide accommodation for winners of our draw.

Because the pandemic has worsened, we will be strictly enforcing the provincial guidelines in order for us to be able to remain open.

-Social Distancing MUST be maintained. Keep 2 club lengths distance between yourself and others.

-Only one person at a time in the Pro Shop and MASKS MUST BE WORN IN THE PRO-SHOP so throw a mask into your golf bag.

-Washrooms will only be open during office hours. The outhouse on #7 will remain closed at this time.

-There will be limited trash & recycling cans on the course. We ask that you please take your trash home with you.

-Power carts and pull cart rentals will be available. At this time rental club will not be available.

As the Covid-19 situation evolves, these conditions remail subject to change.

We have been very lucky to have people volunteer their time for our golf course. Thanks to those members and we would like to encourage others to help with adopting a hole to maintain the tee box area and greens. If you see ball marks on the green, fix yours and one other. We also would love to have more on the board, so feel free to volunteer.

Our Annual General Meeting will be announced when we feel safe enough to hold one.

Your Board of Directors.

Riondel Golf Club Response to Covid-19

Riondel Golf Club is happy to welcome members and guests at this time.  Please read the following information regarding our response to Covid-19 and Worksafe BC regulations.  IF YOU ARE SICK OR HAVE RECENTLY TRAVELLED, PLEASE STAY HOME!

  • Pro-shop hours will be 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days per week, starting July 1st
  • The Honour Box will be open, but if you prefer NOT to sign in (no touch), that is acceptable at this time.
  • Only one person at a time in the pro-shop (excluding staff member)
  • Hand sanitizer is provided at the entrance to the pro-shop, and we request that you use it before entering.
  • Power cart and pull cart rentals will be available.  They will be sanitized between uses.
  • Rental golf clubs will not be available at this time per Worksafe BC recommendation.
  • There will be no trash cans on the course.  Please take your trash home with you.
  • The washrooms will be open, but only during pro-shop hours and will be cleaned regularly.  The outhouse on #7 will not be open.  Please follow proper handwashing procedure.
  • Payment of annual memberships, green fees, or other costs should be made by cheque, debit, credit card, or e-transfer.  Will will accept cash but prefer no touch transaction.

  • Social Distancing Rules MUST be maintained.  Keep 2 club lengths distance between yourself and anyone who does not live with you.
  • Bunker rakes have been removed, and players are asked to use their feet to spread out any deep footprints they may have made.
  • Ball washers have been removed or disabled.
  • Do not remove the flag from the hole.  Holes have been modified (with noodles) so the ball is easily reached without touching flag or cup.
  • If you lose a ball, please do not look for it.  (Basic rule – Only touch what is yours.)
  • Refrain from handshakes or hugs – a tap of putters is a good alternative at the end of your game.
  • Please carry your own personal hand sanitizer and use as needed.
  • Finally . . . enjoy the game . . . despite Covid-19.  This will not be forever.
